13 year old Pioneer 79 Disability S9 Swimmer, Ethan Naisbitt had a very successful day today in Harrogate at the North East Regional Disability Championships. In his 100m Freestyle, Ethan set himself a new personal best time, and in his first attempt at the 200m Individual Medley, he excelled, taking the bronze medal against much older competitiors who were swimming in the S10 up to S14 categories.
Ethan's coach from the Regional Para Squad and Para Pathway's Officer, Chris gave him some valuable feed back straight after his swims, including commenting on his excellent technique in the water and exceptional effort. Today was the day where selectors were watching to see for potential swimmers to be part of the Pathway for 2016-2017, we sincerely hope that from todays results, Ethan has been able to put himself into the spotlight, and secure himself a position on the Pathway. Tomorrow, sees Ethan travel to Sheffield's Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool to train with the Para Squad.
This opportunity is a result of Ethan's hard work over the past season and his determination to compete at such a high level, the input and experience will prove to be invaluable for his ongoing athletic development. The Coaches and his fellow swimmers here at Pioneer 79 wish him the very best of luck.
