Ben is awarded a place on England Talent Phase 1 Camp

Pioneer 79 Swimmer Ben Makin was invited to attend the ASA England Talent Phase 1 Camp, which took place today at Accrington Academy's swimming pool.  A small number of the region's top swimmers aged between 11-15 were invited.  Selection is awarded to swimmers throughout the country due to their success over the last 12 months, their rankings or by discretionary identification, with just 35-40 swimmers in each Region given the opportunity each year.

Successful swimmers are invited to attend 2 separate clinics, one pool based, the other a more 'educational' day.  The aim of the camp is to develop skills and improve stroke efficiency on all four strokes, to collect swimming data to allow a greater informed view of swimmers' future potential, and to ensure technical swimming concepts are implemented and understood.

Pioneer 79's Head Coach, Mike Wilson was also nominated as the lead coach on the program today where the main focus was working on turns, breakouts and racing finishes.

Pioneer 79 are extremely proud of both Ben and Mike on their selection onto the programme and look forward to seeing them reap the benefits.
